SACO — Taylor Landry pitched a two-hitter and Ned Richard scored in the fourth inning Tuesday as Kennebunk downed Fayette-Staples 1-0 in an American Legion baseball game.

Landry struck out three and walked none.

Richard doubled, moved to third on a single by Quinn Burpee and scored when Fayette-Staples (4-2) was unable to turn the double play that would have ended the inning.

Jack Kenney allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked none for Fayette-Staples.

JUNIOR LEGION

LIBBY-MITCHELL 5, CHASE CUSTOM HOMES 1: Sam Warren pitched a five-hitter, Julian Pelzer drove home two runs and Nick Sucheki scored twice to lead Libby-Mitchell (2-2) at Scarborough.

Sucheki singled home Brandan Kane, then scored on Pelzer’s single for a 2-0 third-inning lead. Pelzer and Aaron Dobieski had RBI singles as Libby-Mitchell stretched the lead to 5-0 in the fourth.

 

SOUTH PORTLAND 8, FIRST TITLE 2: Brad Sowerby struck out 11 over six innings for the win as South Portland (3-3) handled First Title of Maine (2-4) at Portland.

Gavin Curran had two hits for First Title, including an RBI triple in the seventh.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 5, PITTSFIELD 4: The Raging Tide (7-6) bunched their runs in the middle innings and used seven pitchers to hold off the Pittsfield Suns (7-8) at Pittsfield, Mass.

The Tide scored two in the fourth, one in the fifth and two on Grayson Porter’s homer in the sixth.
