FREEPORT — Three people were injured and one person faces charges following a head-on collision between two cars earlier tonight in Freeport.

A police dispatcher said the crash took place at 4:43 p.m. on Route 136, which is known locally as the Durham Road.

One patient had to be flown by Lifeflight Helicopter to Maine Medical Center, while another was transported to the Portland hospital by ambulance.

A female driver, whose age and identity were not available Thursday night, was taken to Parkview Hospital in Brunswick. She is expected to be charged.
