President Obama’s latest presidential mandate issued recently in the Rose Garden was infuriating, and the core issue was about more than just illegal aliens and work permits.

If you’re a citizen, your skin should crawl. This sudden executive mandate, much like several others he has executed, is more dangerously about his continued presidential overreach by circumventing Congress and the U.S. Constitution.

The president took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. His unapologetic past admissions that the Constitution is an impediment to government power and his recent tendency to dictate by fiat demonstrate his contempt for the Constitution and this latest mandate only further proves it.

When his unbridled congressional endorsement disappeared in 2010, he turned to issuing executive orders because he knows the media will not challenge his actions – ever.

Immigration is a matter of national security, national sovereignty and public policy, so it mandates legislative resolution. On July 25, 2011, Obama said his hands were tied.

“I know some people want me to bypass Congress (on deporting illegals) and change the laws on my own. That’s not how our democracy functions. That’s not how our Constitution is written,” Obama said.

On June 15, however, Obama thumbed his nose at the rule of law, Congress and his presidential oath. He essentially proclaimed, “I am president and I am directing my administration and the Department of Justice not to enforce certain laws because I deem them inconvenient.”

Think about that for a second. The chief law enforcer not enforcing laws just to retain power. He has offered zero leadership on immigration or border control since being inaugurated in 2009.

Instead of developing any long-term resolution by sending Congress a draft of a comprehensive bill, the “Great Uniter” pulls this stunt to buy Latin votes five months before the election.
