LONDONDERRY, N.H. — A New Hampshire company that makes night vision goggles has been awarded a $50 million contract from the U.S. Army for 3,800 goggles.

The newest contract for Insight Technologies in Londonderry is for goggles that are mounted on helmets. The goggles offer image intensification and thermal imaging.

A spokesman tells the Eagle-Tribune with thermal image capacity, soldiers in Afghanistan, for example, can make out images in the hills, through foliage and camouflage.

The company was founded in 1988 with three employees and purchased in 2010 by L-3 Communications.
