WESTBROOK — Three people were injured and a fourth person was arrested tonight after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Route 302 and Hardy Road.

Sgt. Tim Morrell said a minivan was traveling east on Route 302 in the vicinity of Highland Variety store when a pickup truck pulled out in front of it.

The collision sent the minivan toward the store’s gas pumps. It missed the pumps but ricocheted off the storefront before heading down an embankment and coming to rest in a wooded area.

The driver of the pickup truck fled. He was arrested a short while later by police and charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident. The suspect’s name was not available.

One of the people inside the minivan was taken by ambulance to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash was reported at 8:45 p.m.
