NEW GLOUCESTER – A New Gloucester woman and three unidentified juvenile males have been connected to seven residential burglaries in Cumberland County, with several more in Cumberland, Androscoggin and Oxford counties under investigation, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Juanita Small, 40, of Sabbathday Road, was arrested along with the three other suspects, ages 15-17, during an attempted burglary of a single-family home in New Gloucester on June 28. An investigation by detectives into burglaries in New Gloucester, Gray and Pownal had identified the four as suspects and they were put under surveillance before being caught in the act, the sheriff’s office said.

Follow-up investigations linked them to the other crimes, authorities said. The crimes involved the theft of jewelry, precious personal items, electronics, sporting equipment and alcohol. Some previously stolen property has been recovered and the involved person(s) have been linked to the crimes through forensic evidence including fingerprints, shoe impressions and identifications, police said.

Small remains in custody. All the suspects have been arrested on charges including probation violation, burglary, attempted burglary, theft, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.
