PORTLAND — Portland police say they are looking for a man with neck tattoos in connection with the shooting last week on India Street that killed one and sent two other men to the hospital.
Chief Michael Sauschuck held a news conference today to announce that police are looking for an Asian man with a stocky build, about 5-foot-10, mid-teens to early 20s, and with an elaborate neck tattoo as a “person of interest” in connection with the case.
The man was shown on surveillance video from an area business walking with a small group of other people in the direction of India and Congress streets just before the shooting occurred there. Sauschuck said the man is not necessarily a suspect, but might have seen something.
Police have spoken to the others who were with the man, but either they did not know his name or were not giving it to police, Sauschuck said.
The shooting took the life of Matthew Blanchard, 24, who had recently been living in Gray and Portland, and sent two of his relatives to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The victims were unable to give police a good description of the attackers.
