NEW FACES

• Jay Flowers and Jason Foster were hired as vice presidents and portfolio managers at Investment Management & Consulting Group. Flowers and Foster previously worked together at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Flowers started his career in the financial industry more than 10 years ago. Foster began his career at Legg Mason Wood Walker, now Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, as a financial adviser in 1998.

• Tracy Revoir joined Putney Inc. as a manager of veterinary services. Revoir worked previously for Bayer Animal Health.

• Katrina Clearwater joined Preti Flaherty as an associate with a focus on health law. Clearwater previously held internships and fellowships with Kozak & Gayer, P.A., the Maine Hospital Association, and the Maine Medical Center Research Institute. She is a 2012 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law.

• Jeff Benson, M.D., joined Martin’s Point Health Care as a new physician at the West Falmouth Health Care Center. Dr. Benson has run Freeport Family Health Care for the past five years.

• John M. Backman joined Earle W. Noyes & Sons Moving Specialists as vice president of commercial services. He was previously with Bisson I&R Commercial Services.

• Matthew Brasier joined Dr. Newton’s Naturals as a supervisor of its inbound sales management team. Brasier has several years of experience working at a call center. He most recently worked at SellMyTimeShareNOW, LLC.

• Jennifer Roper joined Camden National as vice president and director of marketing, communications and research. Roper was most recently at John Hancock Financial Services in Boston, Mass., where she served as director of marketing and communications.

PROMOTIONS

• Dr. Laureen Biczak and Dr. Jeffrey Barkin were promoted at Goold Health Services in Augusta. Dr. Biczak was named medical director. Prior to joining GHS over five years ago, Biczak worked as medical director for MaineCare. Dr. Barkin was promoted to full-time associate medical director. He joined GHS three years ago and maintained a part-time clinical practice specializing in psychiatry.

• Jeanine Chesley, a controller for the New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland and HealthSouth Concord Rehabilitation Hospital, was promoted to chief executive officer at NERHP. Chesley has more than 30 years of experience in finance, accounting and operations.

• Joseph Bradley and Thomas Nason were promoted to management positions at E.S. Boulos Co. in Westbrook. Nason, of Turner, was named manager of project performance for its commercial division. He joined the company in 2002 and most recently served as a senior project manager. Bradley was appointed manager of estimating for its commercial division. He joined the company in 1996 and most recently served as senior project manager.

• Mary Ford Hannon was promoted to general manager of ENPRO’s Portland-based service center. Hannon, of Windham, joined ENPRO in 2004 and has served as customer service specialist, a logistics coordinator and business manager. She has more than 25 years of experience in the environmental services industry.

• Albert Curran, co-founder of Woodard & Curran, was recently honored by the University of Maine College of Engineering for his service on its dean’s advisory council. Curran served on the council for 10 years.

• Valerie Gamache was recently recognized for her 16 years of volunteer service with the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Gamache, president of the Bath-Brunswick chapter of the NAMI, was recognized by Molina Medicaid Solutions at its first annual community champions awards event.

• Saint Joseph’s College recently won a state award for workplace health and fitness programs. The Governor’s Council on Physical Activity awarded a Maine Fitness Award to the college for its success in improving the health and well-being of staff and faculty.

• Katahdin Trust Co. was designated as a preferred lender by the U.S. Small Business Administration for its SBA loan programs. Katahdin Trust’s loan officers will now be able to process and close SBA loans more quickly, as much of the loan underwriting is delegated to the lender.

• Bernstein Shur has again been ranked in Chambers USA, a prestigious directory of the nation’s top law firms. This year, the firm received the highest ranking in the categories of corporate mergers and acquisitions (including bankruptcy), energy and natural resources and real estate. The Portland and Augusta offices were recognized for their environment, labor and employment and general commercial litigation practice groups.

GENERAL

• Jeff Marks and Cindy Talbot joined the leadership team at the Environmental & Energy Technology Council of Maine. Marks was named an executive director and Talbot was appointed operations director. Marks joined the state Office of Energy Independence and Security in 2010. Talbot is the principal of CJTalbot Services.

• Karen Gruver of Fontaine Family — The Real Estate Leader in Auburn, recently earned a real estate broker license. Gruver, the marketing director for Fontaine Family, has been active in the local real estate community since 2003.

• GWI Inc. in Biddeford recently closed a deal to acquire Rockland-based Midcoast Internet Solutions. The deal adds 2,495 business and residential customers from Bath to Belfast as well as expertise in fixed wireless broadband service. No job losses are anticipated as a result of the acquisition. The combined firm will have 81 employees. Midcoast customers can expect the same services, pricing, and support they have received.

• Sherrie Bergman, the Bowdoin College librarian for the past 20 years, has officially retired. Bergman is among college library directors with the most longevity on the job. It has been 40 years since her appointment as director of the library at Roger Williams College in 1972. Bowdoin’s alumni council also selected her to receive the 2012 Alumni Service Award for Faculty and Staff.

• The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons granted a three-year accreditation with commendation to the Cancer Program at Goodall Hospital.

• Robert J. Keach, co-chair of Bernstein Shur’s Business Reorganization and Insolvency Practice Group, was appointed fee examiner for the Chapter 11 cases of AMR Corporation and its affiliated debtors. For more information, go to aa.com/restructuring.

• Gene McKeever, of Allen Insurance and Financial, was chosen again to serve as an official “subject matter expert” of questions for the property casualty producer and consultant license exams given by the Maine Bureau of Insurance. McKeever is a commercial insurance specialist, with a special emphasis on the marine industry.
