BRUNSWICK — Anthony “Tony” F. Gagne, 88, of Brunswick passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6th, 2012. He was born in Brunswick, Maine on September 4th, 1923 the son of Arthur J Sr & Marianne (Thibeault) Gagne. He grew up in Brunswick, graduated from Saint John’s Catholic School in 1939 and attended Brunswick High School.

In 1943 he joined the Navy and proudly served his country for 4 years. As a crew member aboard the heavy cruiser USS Quincy CA 71, Tony was present at the invasion of Normandy (D-Day) and at the Surrender of Japan in Tokyo Bay. Upon returning home he married his soul mate Angela Mary Burgio on April 7th, 1947, and the couple resided in Brunswick to raise their family. Mr. Gagne worked a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime; Theberge Bros., Factory Outlet, Lisbon Trading Post, Totten, Merrill Carpet, Brunswick High School as a custodian, Shaw’s, Brunswick Housing as a driver and as a self-employed linoleum mechanic.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Angela in 2004, a daughter, Nancy in 2009, a granddaughter, Jessica in 1981 a grandson, Ryan in 2002 and 7 brothers & sisters.

He leaves behind a daughter,

Suzanne Cameron and her husband Robert of Brunswick, a son Richard Gagne and his wife Joni of Sunnyvale, CA, 5 grandchildren; Michelle Wagner of NH, Amy Wagner of PA, Christopher Cameron and his wife Sarah of South Portland, Anthony Cameron and his wife Elizabeth of Lamoine, and Darcy Gagne of VT, 2 great grandchildren, Alexander & Elliott Cameron; 1 brother, Rev. Donald Gagne of Lewiston, 2 sisters, Ginnette Beauchesne of Auburn and Bernadette Dugal of Brunswick and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 9th, 2012 at 10:00am at All Saints Parish, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Pleasant Street, Brunswick. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Brunswick.
