BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Doris L. Petre, 85, died Saturday August 11, 2012 at the Freeport Nursing Home in Freeport. Doris was born March 4, 1927 in Tampa, Florida to Arthur and Doris Greenhill. Her mom died when she was four years old and she was raised by her great aunt, Hezabinda Ellum. She grew up in Greenville, CT. and graduated from Stratford High School in the class of 1942. She also lived in Bridgeport, CT, Maryland and moved to Maine in the 1970’s.

She worked at Friendly’s as a waitress and eventually as manager of two of the restaurants on Cape Cod. She retired as a trainer for Friendly’s after working there for over 15 years.

She was the family matriarch and caregiver of all of her family. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and needle point. She lived in Boothbay and lastly in Brunswick since 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Petre and by a son, Tom Russ.

She is survived by four sons; Walt Bayerle of Montgomery Village, MD, Ernest Bayerle of Spring, TX, Richard “Rick” Russ of Mason, NH, Terry Russ of Brunswick, daughters; Leslie Bernier of New Gloucester, Lee Ann Gallant of Topsham, brother, Richard Watrous of Groton, CT. 19 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren and counting. Step-sisters, Beverly Wilson of Cape Cod, MA, Janet Frosti of Middletown, CT.

Friends are welcome to join the family for a visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday August 16th followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. at the Oaklawn Cemetery, Route 96, Boothbay Harbor. Rev.
