The flavor, which features vanilla ice cream, sweet caramel ripples and small brownie bites, was created earlier this year to give a sweet twist to Maine’s “mud season” – when the snow melts and turns the ground into a muddy mess.
The retail launch will be celebrated Monday at a Hannaford supermarket in Scarborough. Gov. Paul LePage and other dignitaries are scheduled to attend – all of whom were encouraged to wear Bean boots.
The ice cream flavor was just one of several products L.L. Bean sponsored for its 100th anniversary celebration. Other products include special edition canoes, paddles and fishing poles.
