Film fest volunteers sought

The Camden International Film Festival is seeking volunteers for its 2012 Camden International Film Festival and Points North Documentary Forum, running Sept. 27-30.

Enthusiastic individuals are welcome to be part of the action, gain experience in film festival planning, connect with filmmakers from around the world, and see a selection of documentaries screened for the first time in New England.

There are many ways to help, including ticket taking, event catering, street team, driving and ushering.

Organizers are also looking for dedicated volunteers to help before and after the festival weekend. Volunteers will be rewarded with free tickets to screenings, a volunteer-only Sunday night party and further incentives based on the number of hours each volunteer is able to commit.

Conservation Fair wants you

The Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District is seeking exhibitors and presenters to participate in its annual Conservation Fair set for 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Union Fairgrounds.

The event is offered free to public, private, and home school elementary and middle school students. This year’s fair is for students in grades one through four.

Throughout the day, presenters from federal, state, and local agencies, nonprofits, and farms will engage teachers and students in age-appropriate demonstrations or activities on topics including aquaponics, tree identification, local foods taste-testing and more.
