The Boston Red Sox blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, in which they are shedding close to $272 million in salary, has been completed, according to The Boston Herald and The Boston Globe on their websites.

The Red Sox are sending pitcher Josh Beckett, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, outfielder Carl Crawford and infielder Nick  Punto to Los Angeles. The Red Sox receive first baseman James Loney and four minor leaguers – Allen Webster, a top pitching prospect in Double-A, pitcher Rubby de la Rosa, outfielder Jerry Sands and second baseman Ivan De Jesus.

The Red Sox will also send the Dodgers $10-$12 million over the next six years with the first paymnt next year, according to the Globe.

The Globe said the commissioner’s office has to approve Boston’s cash payment in the deal. Once that is approved, the deal will be announced.
