AUGUSTA – A nonprofit organization that specializes in investigative journalism in Maine has received grants totaling $125,000.

The Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting said it has received a $100,000 grant from the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation for the second year in a row and a $25,000 grant from the Nicholas B. Ottaway Foundation for the third consecutive year.

The center said both grants will support its production of investigative journalism about Maine state government and elections.
