EASTPORT — Eastport is holding its annual Pirate Festival that recalls the days of yore when pirates were active off the Maine coast.

The festival gets under way Friday and continues through Sunday.

Festivities include a pirate ball, a pirate parade, pirate music bashes, a pirate bed race and a walk-the-plank party. There’ll also be tours of a replica of the 180-foot HMS Bounty tall ship, which was built in 1962 for the movie “Mutiny on the Bounty.”

The event is now in its seventh year and typically draws 10,000 to 12,000 people.

Organizers say producers from the Travel Channel will be on hand to film events at the festival for a future show.
