Cheverus shuts out South Portland, 42-0
 
Donald Goodrich scored three touchdowns to lead Cheverus to a 42-0 win over South Portland in a Southern Maine Athletics Association Class A Football game played at South Portland Friday night.
 
Goodrich scored on runs of 7, 3 and 8 yards to help lift the Stags to 3-0 on the season and extend its overall winning streak to 27 games. Goodrich finished the game with 21 carries for 215 yards.
 
Cody O’Brien returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown and recovered also Cheverus offensive fumble in the end zone for another score. Brent Green, who had 109 yards rushing in the game, also had a 19-yard touchdown.

Cheverus led 14-0 at the half.
 

Scarborough wins third straight, 27-12
 
Dillion Russo passed for two touchdowns to lead Scarborough to its third straight win of the season with a 27-12 win over Windham.
 
Windham lost its first game after two wins.
 

Hodges slings Westbrook past Greely

Senior quarterback Drew Hodge threw three touchdown passes as Greely pulled away in the second half to beat Westbrook 33-12 Friday night in a Western Class B football game.

Westbrook had tied the game at 6-6 with one second left in the first half on a 34-yard pass from Kyle Heath to Collin Joyce.

But Greely dominated the final two quarters. Hodge threw two touchdown passes in the third quarter: 15 yards to Connor Hanley and 28 yards to Svenn Jacobson.

Jacobson scored on a 4-yard run in the fourth and Pat Finnegan returned an interception 40 yards for Greely’s final touchdown.

Greely is now 3-0 while Westbrook dropped to 2-1.

 

Libby leads Thornton Academy past Bonny Eagle, 37-20

Andrew Libby scored three touchdowns, including a 64-yard punt return to lead Thornton Academy to a 37-20 win over Bonny Eagle Friday night.

Thornton remained unbeaten at 3-0, while Bonny Eagle dropped to 1-2.

The Scots gave Thornton a good scare, taking the lead three different times. Bonny Eagle began the game with an 80-yard, nine-minute drive for a 7-0 lead.

Thornton took a 16-14 halftime lead on a safety after a bad snap by the Scots.

But Bonny Eagle took a 20-16 lead on a 78-yard drive, capped by Tyson Goodale’s 13-yard run.

The Trojans took over from there with three unanswered touchdown runs by Libby (two yards), quarterback Eric Christensen (one yard) and halfback Nick Kenney (five yards).
