BIDDEFORD – Megan Fortier and Ellie Donohue scored goals within the first two minutes, and Donohue added another later as the Colby Mules picked up a 3-0 shutout against the University of New England during non-conference field hockey action.

The win was the second straight for the Mules (2-2), while Big Blue drops to 3-3.

Fortier tucked home a rebound at the left post to put the Mules in front 1:18 into the match, and then Fortier set up Donohue just 20 seconds later.

Donohue scored again just over two minutes into the second half, getting the slightest touch on Caroline Keaveney’s drive from the edge of the arc.

Colby goalkeeper Michelle Burt made five saves during each half, including a sliding stop early in the second half to deny a fast break.

Kaitlyn Warren blocked three for the Nor’easters, who finished with advantages in shots (16-10) and penalty corners (13-5), but were held scoreless for the first time in 14 games.
