Brunswick police continue to search for a man suspected of stabbing a woman at a Perryman Drive residence early Sunday morning.

Police were called to 9 Perryman Drive at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday for the reported stabbing. The victim, a 25- year-old woman, was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland for multiple stab wounds to the chest and leg area. They were nonlife threatening injuries and according to police, she was held overnight for precautionary reasons.

Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said this morning there were three small children inside the apartment at the time the stabbing occurred, but were upstairs and did not directly witness the incident. Another 25-year-old woman who intervened during the incident sustained cuts to her hands and was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. A paring knife is believed to be the weapon that was used in the stabbing, and was recovered from the scene, Hagan said.

Police are searching for 31- year-old Jamie Mondragon of Auburn. According to a press release issued by the Brunswick Police Department, Mondragon fled the scene prior to the arrival of responding officers and was believed to be operating a dark gray 2001 Lexus ES300 with a Maine license plate of 6276RP.

As of this morning Hagan said Mondragon has still not been located.

Police are asking anyone with information to call lead investigator Detective William Moir at 725-6623 extension 167.
