CASTINE — The Bowdoin College women’s volleyball team served 25 aces in an easy 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-6) win over Maine Maritime on Tuesday night.
The 25th-ranked Polar Bears, who reentered the AVCA Division III poll earlier in the day, improved to 16-2 with the win. The Mariners fell to 7-8.
Bowdoin’s McKenzie Kessel picked up six aces, while teammate Emese Gaal added five to lead the Polar Bears’ service attack. Christy Jewett led Bowdoin with seven kills, while Luisa LaSalle and Hailey Wahl had six kills each. Sophia Cornew dished out 15 assists and five digs in the victory.
The Polar Bears will return to action with a quartet of matches this weekend at Morrell Gymnasium. Bowdoin will play Colby-Sawyer (5 p.m.) and Coast Guard (7:30 p.m.) on Friday evening before hosting Hamilton (11 a.m.) and Wellesley (2:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
