WATERVILLE (AP) — City officials in Waterville are calling on families to unplug their electronic devices and head outdoors.
The Morning Sentinel reports that city councilors voted Tuesday to declare Sunday a day to unplug all unnecessary devices and engage with people around them.
Chairman Fred Stubbert, who sponsored the resolution, says electronics too often isolate people and reduce time for healthy outdoor physical activities.
Steve Aucoin, director of the Waterville Area Boys and Girls Club’s North End office, said he came up with idea for the resolution. He said youths will make fliers about “A Day to Unplug” and post them to promote the idea.
