North Yarmouth voters have a clear choice on Nov. 6. The petitioners for withdrawal from School Administrative District 51 are making unfounded and flawed claims. We believe people deserve to know the facts.

Fact 1: A no vote will stop the withdrawal process and save taxpayers $100,000.

Fact 2: This is not a vote to “explore,” but a vote for four people to negotiate a withdrawal plan.

Fact 3: North Yarmouth would be solely responsible for costs including building construction, administration, and transportation; state funds would unlikely be provided thus increasing property taxes.

Fact 4: There is no educational benefit to withdrawal; our children are currently experiencing the outcomes of a top-performing district.

Fact 5: Property values are tied to school quality; withdrawing from SAD 51 will have a negative effect.

It’s time to put an end to this nonsense. Vote no on withdraw from SAD51. A no vote preserves what our children deserve.
