Donovan for ?Town Council

I am writing to share my endorsement of Bill Donovan for Town Council of Scarborough. Bill Donovan is a childhood friend of mine, and he is a highly qualified candidate. Bill Donovan was a star athlete in High School, and went on to Dartmouth College where he excelled in football. He is very bright, and earned a law degree from Boston College. He became a law partner in Manchester, N.H., and like many of us has settled in the wonderful town of Scarborough. During Bill’s professional career, he became the managing partner of the law firm and oversaw the day to day operations. He managed the large staff of people, and he managed the fiscal responsibilities as well. He understands teamwork, budgetary responsibilities, and achieving planned goals. He has gained much wisdom throughout his lifetime, and is now retired. He is willing to commit significant time to Town Council responsibilities, and his theme is “The Best Scarborough We Can Afford.”

Bill Donovan is environmentally conscious, and he currently volunteers as a piping plover endangered species steward, and as a water quality volunteer for Maine Healthy Beaches. He is interested in a green Scarborough, and is well read on healthy issues. Bill Donovan offers a high quality level of leadership, a winning attitude, a knowledge of fiscal responsibility, and wisdom. I encourage you to consider voting for him.

Vote for Myrick

Please support Kenneth “Jake” Myrick for House District Seat 123. I am a mom with 10-year-old twin boys who attend the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Years ago, at a youth event my husband and I heard of community activist Jake Myrick. Native born and raised, Myrick is a decorated veteran, proud father of three and current athletic director at the Portland Club. Myrick organizes an annual holiday dinner for the elderly, defends veteran causes, serves on many committees and is a faithful champion and advocate for our youth. Myrick came from a abusive troubled family. He clearly chose a different path in life. Jake Myrick surprised many with his dedication and determination to better himself and become the success he is today.

Send a compassionate proven leader to be our voice in Augusta. Vote for the best qualified candidate. Vote for one of our own. Please vote Myrick.

Vote for Morrison

There are many great candidates running for the state legislature; we are very fortunate. However, I think Terry Morrison exemplifies the quality of candidate we need in the state house. Terry has served this city well from District 122; he is thoughtful, thorough and committed. His communications with his constituents is incomparable. He communicates with equal dedication to those who are not even in his district, responding to everyone’s concerns.

Terry does his homework, insures that he understands the issues and puts in an inordinate amount of time and effort, both at home and in Augusta. His most recent anti-bullying bill is one that should be a model for our nation.

I am proud to have Terry represent South Portland. His record speaks for itself. Please cast your vote for Terry Morrison for House of Representatives, District 122.

Summers ?for District 6

Maine needs leaders of principle and purpose to represent us in our legislature. When I look at a candidate who will represent me, I always look at their background and take an assessment of what they have already accomplished in their private and professional lives to know how capable they will be as my representative.

Ruth Summers is a woman who is already comfortable with leadership roles as when she served as a lt. commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve with various important duties in the United States and South East Asia. As a resident of Scarborough, Ruth is now a mom and a small business owner and has been actively involved in education in leadership roles as an executive director and president.

Where are voters in District 6: Gorham, Scarborough, and Westbrook, going to find a more qualified candidate to serve us in the Senate? I am very proud to give Ruth my support and encourage other voters to support her candidacy also.

Summers best choice for District 6

Ruth Summers is a candidate you can count on for legislative action that will move Maine forward to a brighter future in several key areas.

A lieutenant commander in the United States Navy Reserve with over 15 years experience she understands first hand the issues that are important to our veterans; past, present and future. Although job opportunity is an important issue for all Maine workers, it can be critical for veterans entering or reentering the workplace after one or more tours of duty on foreign soil. One of the ways that Ruth proposes for dealing with job opportunity for veterans is to develop programs that match skills required for Maine jobs to the training and experience received while on military duty. Many of these same skills are in high demand in Maine industries.

Ms. Summers also has experience gained in working for a nonprofit organization helping students locate scholarship funds for higher education. As your state senator she would support legislation to develop and improve programs throughout the state to provide information and access to scholarships that are already available to students seeking assistance at the trade school and university level. Many of these scholarships now go unused because of a lack of information.

As a small business owner Ruth Summers knows first hand the difficulties in conforming to the myriad of regulations that must be dealt with on a day to day basis and the added costs that make it so difficult to become and stay profitable. As your state senator she would work to reduce and eliminate unnecessary regulation on small businesses.

Please join me in casting your ballot for Ruth Summers for Maine Senate District 6.

Volk too extreme for Scarborough

Amy Volk is too extreme for Scarborough. In a town that takes great pride in its school system, Volk proposed legislation that would pay parents (out of tight school budgets) to send their children to religious schools. She sponsored far right wing ALEC inspired legislation to create Virtual Charter schools (funded from already stressed school budgets). Virtual charter schools have proven to be profitable to the owners, not the students. Volk is anti-women and anti-choice, proposing legislation that would have created “personhood” for a fetus.

Amy Volk has voted in support of the extreme right wing Tea Party administration of Paul LePage 92 percent of the time. This is an appalling record. We cannot stand by and let Volk and LePage ruin Scarborough.

Paul Aranson will return Augusta to real Maine values. I’ve already voted for Aranson. I hope you will too.

De Angelis ?for District 3

I am giving my support to Rosemarie De Angelis for South Portland City Council, District 3. Her record is evidence of her commitment to this city, speaking up and being a voice for those of us who may not feel comfortable speaking. She listens to her constituents, returns calls and emails and is responsive to the needs of all residents. You will always know where Rosemarie stands on an issue; she is a real example of community.

Rosemarie connects with young adults, seniors, those on fixed incomes, and veterans too. She shows up at all city functions; I see her everywhere. Her work with immigrants and refugees as well as her Mayor’s Citizen Recognition Awards shows how she really gets to know people, not just issues. This matters to me.

Please re-elect Rosemarie De Angelis to South Portland City Council.
