SOUTH PORTLAND — The threeway race to replace departing Democratic Rep. Jane Eberle in Maine House District 123 was won by Democrat Scott Hamann over Republican Kenneth “Jake” Myric and Roger Bishop, who ran independently.

Hamann beat Myrick 2,716 to 1,574 while Bishop trailed both with 932 votes. House District 123 is comprised of the central portion of South Portland and the northwestern portion of Cape Elizabeth. Bishop won Cape Elizabeth with 344 votes to Hamann’s 285 and Myrick’s 183.

Hamann is making his first run for elective office with the backing of Eberle as his treasurer. Eberle was not allowed to seek a fifth, two-year term because of Maine term limits law.

Myrick was making his second run for the seat. He lost to Eberle in 2010. Bishop made his first run for office.
