DRESDEN — Charles B. Hird Jr., 65, of Amy’s Circle died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Methuen, Mass on April 9, 1947 a son of Charles B. and Camille (Caron) Hird Sr.

He attended Dracut schools and graduated from Dracut High School in 1965. He entered the United States Navy serving during Vietnam. He moved to Maine and married Sharon Baker. He worked for several years alongside his father at Downeast Machine Company. He was employed at Bath Iron Works as maintenance supervisor for many years. He married Patti Bowdoin and they resided in Dresden.

He was a member of the Solar Star Lodge of Masons in Bath, and the Bath Lodge of Elks.

Charlie enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, boating and spending time with the people he loved.

He was predeceased by his mother Camille Hird in 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Patti Hird of Dresden, one daughter, Angie Vanderwerf and her husband Matt of Woolwich, one son, Craige Hird and his partner Aaron Martin of Salem, Mass, his father, Charles B. Hird Sr. of Lawrence, Mass, one sister, Diane Norwood of Bradford, Mass. Two step sons, Chad Bowdoin and his wife Naomi of Richmond and Eddy Bowdoin of Hyannis, Mass, two granddaughters, Olivia E. Bowdoin of Hyannis, Mass and Abby Vanderwerf of Woolwich.

At his request there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Solar Star Lodge #14 ,c/o Joe Richards, 6 Western Ave, Topsham, 04086.
