It’s time to get ready for fun and exciting November events in Brunswick.

Businesses and organizations of all kinds will be hosting a wide variety of activities. The best way to keep up with all that is going on is to subscribe to the Brunswick Blast, a biweekly eNewsletter that provides a rundown on everything Brunswick. Sign up to receive the Blast by going to www.brunswickdowntown.org.

Companies and nonprofits wanting to list their events in the Brunswick Blast should contact the Brunswick Downtown Association (BDA) at info@brunswickdowntown.org.

One of the biggest happenings in November will be the Downtown Brunswick Early Bird Sale and Rolling Slumber Bed Races on Saturday, Nov. 17. There will be a slew of activities — fun for the whole family.

Start your holiday shopping off right by buying local. At the Early Bird Sale, you will be able to cash in on great deals at more than 20 Brunswick downtown businesses starting at 6 a.m. For a full list of participating organizations, including details on the discounts and sales, visit the BDA website.

To keep up with all the day has to offer, you will need to fuel up. No worries, we have that covered. Byrne’s Irish Pub will be offering a Kegs & Eggs Irish Breakfast starting at 6 a.m. and the Tavern at the Inn at Brunswick Station will be hosting a Design Your Own Omelet event at 7 a.m. In the afternoon, Trattoria Athena will hold a Holiday Wine Tasting with snacks and appetizers.

And we haven’t forgotten about the kids. A Story Time hosted at The Brunswick Inn will take place at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10:30, the Town Mall will be filled with children’s activities, including a bouncy house, face painting, art projects and more. There will even be pet friendly activities with dog treat decorating.

No one has time to be sick over the holidays, so be sure to stop by the free flu shot clinic offered by CHANS at the Tontine Mall from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. There is no cost, but donations are welcomed.

Probably the most anticipated event of the day will be the Rolling Slumber Bed Races. Businesses, families, churches, nonprofit organizations and clubs are invited to create a team and show off their best pjs and stamina. The races will take place on Park Row starting at 11 a.m. All beds will be decorated and teams are encouraged to wear themed costumes or pajamas. Registration in the race is required and since the race can be fast-paced, only adults (over age 18) will be able to participate.

We want to thank the Early Bird and Rolling Slumber Bed Race sponsors: Bowdoin College, CHANS Home Health Care, Cool As A Moose, Downeast Energy, KeyBank, Mid Coast Health Services, and The Music Center.

November is far from over though. On Friday, Nov. 23, you can ring in the holiday season with neighbors and friends at Brunswick’s Annual Tree Lighting ceremony on the Town Mall. At this event, you can enjoy a community sing-along with lots of hot chocolate and cookies. With a scheduled visit from Santa and Frosty the Snowman, the evening is bound to be a delight for children.

Then on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., we hope you will join the BDA for a festive occasion of fun and early Christmas shopping at our Annual Silent Auction Fundraiser. Held at Curtis Memorial Library, at this event you can enjoy music as well as complimentary refreshments provided by local area restaurants and BDA board members while bidding on a variety of unique and special items.
