GORHAM – Connor Sullivan scored a career-high 23 points, including six in overtime, to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 69-63 victory against Eastern Connecticut State in a Little East Conference men’s basketball opener Saturday.

USM (4-2 overall) ended regulation on a 9-3 run to force overtime against the Warriors (3-2).

Brandon Tomah added 12 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, and reserve Sean Bergeron had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies.

DUQUESNE 87, MAINE 73: Jeremiah Jones led four players in double figures with 15 points, and Duquesne (4-3) pulled away from a 37-37 halftime tie to beat Maine (2-5) at Pittsburgh.

Justin Edwards led the Black Bears with 19 points, Xavier Pollard scored 17 and Alasdair Fraser 14.

VERMONT TECH 84, SMCC 71: Alex Tyrell and Josh Lindsey combined for 44 points to lead the Knights (4-4, 4-0 YSCC) past the Seawolves (9-3, 5-1) at South Portland.

Tyheem Simon had 16 points and Emmanuel Donalson chipped in 10 for SMCC.

BOWDOIN 84, MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY 51: Andrew Madlinger had 17 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Bobcats (3-2) cruised past the Mariners (0-4) at Brunswick.

Bryan Hurley had 11 points and 12 assists, and Maximilian Staiger added 12 points for Bowdoin.

SALVE REGINA 70, UNE 57: Isiah Pringle connected for six 3-pointers as the Seahawks (4-1, 2-0 Commonwealth Coast) downed the Nor’easters (1-6, 0-2) at Newport, R.I.

Freshman Devin Thompson scored 24 points to lead UNE. He has 20 or more in three of his first seven college games.

DANIEL WEBSTER 95, COLBY 93: John Hixson nailed a 3-pointer with 29 seconds left in the third overtime to lift the Eagles (3-2) over the Mules (2-3) in the final of the Colby Classic at Waterville.

SUFFOLK 77, ST. JOSEPH’S 68: Colin Halpin scored 25 points to lead the Rams (2-3, 1-0 Great Northern) past the Monks (3-2, 0-1) at Boston.

Nich Jobin paced the Monks with 20 points.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

SOUTHERN MAINE 59, EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 54: Rebecca Knight amassed 19 points to spark the Huskies (6-0, 1-0 Little East) past the Warriors (1-5, 0-1) at Gorham.

Nicole Garland added 12 points and three steals for USM, which went on a 10-0 run in the second half to pull away.

RPI 66, BATES 53: Amanda Lynch scored 12 points to help the Engineers (5-2) defeat the Bobcats (2-5) at the Williams Holiday Classic in Williamstown, Mass.

Brianna Hawkins had 11 points to lead the injury-shortened rotation for Bates. Chelsea Nason, Taryn O’Connell and Allaina Murphy each scored 10 points.

BOWDOIN 53, COLBY 38: Megan Phelps had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead the Bobcats (2-3) to a nonconference win over the Mules (2-3) at Brunswick.

Kaitlin Donahoe scored nine with six rebounds and five assists, and Anna Prohl grabbed 11 rebounds for Bowdoin.

ST. JOSEPH’S 67, MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY 50: Morgan Cahill produced her third double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds to carry the Monks (4-1) past the Mariners (1-2) at Standish.

Lindsay Moore had 14 points and Abby Young added 13 for St. Joseph’s, which forced 27 turnovers with 18 steals.

SMCC 65, VERMONT TECH 61: Rogetta Donaldson had 11 points, four rebounds and four assists as the Seawolves (8-1, 4-0 YSCC) edged the Knights (6-2, 3-1) at South Portland.

BOWDOIN 3, COLBY 2: Kayte Holtz had a goal and an assist for the Polar Bears (3-1, 2-0 NESCAC), who scored twice in the final six minutes of regulation and then beat the Mules (2-4, 0-4) in overtime at Brunswick.

BOSTON COLLEGE 10, MAINE 0: Dana Trivigno had a hat trick and two assists as the Eagles (10-3-2, 7-3-1 Hockey East) shut out the Black Bears (2-10-1, 1-8) at Boston.

FRANKLIN PIERCE 5, UNE 2: Colleen Doucette and Francesca Paciello each scored twice for the Ravens (3-5), who used a 3-0 run in the second period to pull away from the Nor’easters (0-5) at Rindge, N.H.

MANHATTANVILLE 6, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Mary Rose Morrison and Katie Little scored two goals apiece to power the Valiants (6-2-1, 5-0-1 ECAC) past the Huskies (2-3-2, 2-2-2) at Stamford, Conn.

BABSON 6, UNE 3: The Beavers (4-2-2, 3-2-1 ECAC) scored six second-period goals, four on the power play, against the Nor’easters (2-8, 1-6) at Babson Park, Mass. Cassidy April had a goal and an assist for UNE.

Zach Lokey and Jared Melman also scored.

UMASS-BOSTON 5, SOUTHERN MAINE 2: Jeremy Finger and Peter Mac-Intyre chipped in a goal and an assist each for the Beacons (7-2-1, 3-2-1 ECAC) against the Huskies (4-4, 3-4) at Boston.

Angelo Vrachnas had a goal and an assist for the Huskies.

BOWDOIN 5, COLBY 2: Rob MacGregor had a goal and an assist as the Polar Bears (6-0-1, 3-0-1 NESCAC) beat the Mules (1-6, 0-4) at Waterville in the 200th meeting between the rivals, the most in Division III hockey.
