WEST POINT, N.Y. – Kyle Wilson scored 18 points, Ella Ellis had 17 and Army closed the first half by outscoring Maine 32-9 en route to a 96-67 men’s basketball win Friday night.

Larry Toomey and Kyle Toth had 11 points each and Josh Herbeck 10 for the Black Knights (5-5).

Justin Edwards led the Black Bears (3-7) with 18 points.

Army shot 55.9 percent from the field and 81 percent from the line.


MOUNT UNION 28, ST. THOMAS (MINN.) 10: Kevin Burke led two second-half touchdown drives and the Purple Raiders (15-0) ended a three-year losing streak in NCAA Division III championship game with a win over St. Thomas (14-1) at Salem, Va.

The victory gave Mount Union Coach Larry Kehres his 11th national title in 16 appearances in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. His record improves to 332-24-3 in 27 seasons.

The Purple Raiders had lost three straight Stagg Bowls and four of the last five, all against Wisconsin-Whitewater.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE 23, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 20: Brock Jensen scored on a 5-yard quarterback draw with 3 minutes left to rally the Bison (13-1) to a win in the Football Championship Subdivision semifinals at Fargo, N.D.

The defending champions advanced to the championship game Jan. 5 in Frisco, Texas, against the winner of Saturday’s semifinal between Sam Houston State and Eastern Washington.

SHIPPENSBURG’S Zach Zulli won the Harlon Hill Trophy as the top player in Division II.

Zulli set NCAA Division II records by accounting for 336 points and 56 touchdowns, and tied the national record with 54 touchdown passes.


SOUTHERN MAINE 57, HUSSON 20: Jordan Grant had 11 points for the Huskies (9-0), who rolled past the Eagles (1-5) at Gorham.


UNION 4, MAINE 3: Nicole Bartlett tallied with just under three minutes remaining to lift the Dutchwomen (4-9-3) over the Black Bears (2-13-1) at Orono.

Jennifer More had a goal and two assists for Maine, which outshot Union 40-19.
