I don’t own a gun, I don’t want to own a gun. I do believe the following to be true:

You have a right to bear arms, to protect your life and family. You do not need an assault weapon to do that. As far as using assault weapons for hunting, give me a break – what kind of a sport is that? It doesn’t take any skill to bring down a deer or any other animal with an assault weapon. No other sport allows you to keep trying until you get it right. If you miss a gate in skiing, you don’t get another chance. If you miss a field goal attempt, you don’t get to keep trying until you make it.

Well, says the National Rifle Association, assault weapons are used for target practice. Again, where’s the skill in that? Try skeet shooting, where you better work on your eye-hand coordination.

Those little children and staff at Sandy Hook Elementary School also had rights – to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Assault weapons and their ammunition should be banned. I do know that this is not the total answer, but it’s a good start.
