PORTLAND – Matt Talbot had 14 points and 14 rebounds Saturday night to lead Portland to a 73-44 victory against Gorham in an SMAA schoolboy basketball game at the Portland Expo.

Justin Zukowski scored 15 and Nick Volger added 12 for Portland (6-0), which opened with a 24-8 first period. Javon Pitts-Young finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

Elliot Spiers had 10 points for Gorham (1-5).

CAPE ELIZABETH 55, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 44: Ethan Murphy and Chris Robicheaw combined for nine 3-pointers and finished with 18 points apiece to lift the Capers (5-1) over the Raiders (0-6) at Fryeburg.

Chad Peterson chipped in with nine points for Cape Elizabeth, which led 27-17 at halftime.

CONY 63, MT. ARARAT 52: Dayshawn Roberts scored 17 points and Mitchell Bonefant added 13 as Cony (3-4) downed Mt. Ararat (3-3) at Augusta.

Cony made 17 of 18 foul shots in the fourth quarter.

MORSE 55, BELFAST 47: Ethan Winglass had 16 points as the Shipbuilders (3-3) held off the Lions (3-3) at Bath.

D’Vaughn Myers added 11 points and Chris Paulus grabbed 11 rebounds to go with six points for Morse.

The Shipbuilders held an 11-point lead in the fourth, but the Lions used a 9-0 run late to cut the deficit to two points. Morse hit 12 foul shots in the period.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 49, MAINE CENTRAL INSTITUTE 39: Sawyer Pinkham scored 10 points, and Thomas Masters had seven points and five assists to help the Eagles (2-4) down the Huskies (1-5) at Newcastle.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 69, NOKOMIS 52: John Murray had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Panthers (6-1) over the Warriors (3-3) at Waldoboro.

HOCKEY

SCARBOROUGH 7, GORHAM 1: Garrett McDonald scored four times and assisted on the other three goals to power the Red Storm (4-1) over Gorham (3-4) at Saco.

Jake Gross added a goal and four assists for Scarborough, and Nick Bagley and Cam Loiselle also scored. Jared Wood answered for the Rams.
