FALMOUTH — Youth and adult volunteers are starting a 4-H Goat Club in Cumberland County.

Participants will learn about the care, raising and showing of dairy goats in addition to exploring the role of goats and their agricultural products in society.

Meetings will be the second Monday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 in North Yarmouth. In June, meetings may be weekly as 4- Hers prepare their projects for demonstration and the Cumberland County Fair.

Youths age 9 to 18 are welcome. The club also will have goat-related programming for children younger than 9, who are called 4-H Cloverbuds.

The club has 10 openings, with potential for more as more adults become trained volunteers.
