PORTLAND (AP) — Jury selection is getting under way in the murder trial of a Massachusetts man charged with fatally shooting the mother of his four children and his longtime friend.

Thirty-year-old Joel Hayden of New Bedford is charged in the deaths of 27- year-old Renee Sandora of New Gloucester, Maine, and 28-year-old Trevor Mills, also of New Bedford.

Police say Hayden shot the pair outside Sandora’s home on July 26, 2011.
