OAKLAND — The Mt. Ararat High School jayvee boys basketball team nipped Messalonskee 37-35 on Friday.

The visiting Eagles trailed 10-6 after one quarter, but led 14-12 at the half and 24-21 after three.

Zack Garvey scored 12 points for Mt. Ararat, while Taylor Turner had 10 for the hosts.

At the foul line, Mt. Ararat was five of eight and Messalonskee seven of 16.

Mt. Ararat held a 36-29 rebounding edge, led by Garvey (10), Trevor Mayo (six) and Mike Crawford (six, to go along with four steals).

Playing well defensively for Mt. Ararat were Brandon Dionne, Zack Curtis and Avery Desjardins.
