TOPSHAM — A Litchfield woman was taken to a local hospital with a complaint of neck pain after the sports utility vehicle she was driving west on Route 196 was rear-ended by another SUV Thursday afternoon.

The minor two-vehicle crash was reported Thursday at 4:42 p.m. in front of the Gibbs Oil gas station. Lt. Fred Dunn said Wendy Edwards, 40, of Litchfield, was stopped on Route 196 in a 2003 Honda SUV and was rear-ended by 28-year-old Nicholas Kelly of Bath, who was allegedly following too closely in a 2007 Toyota SUV. Edwards was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick for a complaint of neck pain. No charges were issued.
