PORTLAND — Steven J. Anderson, 47, died Jan. 10 after a brief illness.

He was born in Quonset, R.I., on Jan. 27, 1965, during his father’s service with the U.S. Navy. He was the son of George and Janice Anderson.

After his father’s naval service, the family moved to Scarborough where he attended Scarborough schools and then traveled to Florida to attend motorcycle mechanic’s school.

He loved motorcycles and would take any chance he could get to be out on the road with the wind blowing in his hair. He was the ultimate free spirit and truly loved life.

Anderson was predeceased by his mother and brothers, James P. Anderson, and George J. Anderson III.

He is survived by his father, George Anderson of Scarborough; his aunt, Cynthia Neal of Virginia; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A spring interment will be held at Black Point Cemetery in Scarborough.
