OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Bitter cold temperatures have led the Salvation Army to open a shelter in Old Orchard Beach for anyone who needs to get out of the cold.

The Salvation Army plans on keeping its doors open through Sunday, both as a warming center in the daytime and a place to sleep at night, according to Maj. Norman Garcia.

The organization is seeking volunteers to help overnight as well as donate snacks, beverages and toiletries for people who use the shelter, located at the corner of Church and 6th streets.
