BRUNSWICK — Corrine Gowell, 74, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, ME, passed peacefully Jan. 19, 2013, to her rest at Ledgeview Nursing Home in W. Paris, with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 24, 1938, to Perley E., Sr. and Nellie E. (Verney) Gowell.

She worked for 30 years at the Pejepscot Paper mill until its closure in 1985. She then worked until her retirement at the Navy Exchange Annex in Topsham.

She loved her cats, was a cheery and kind person with a smile for everyone. She loved helping others, traveling, shopping and eating out.

Her special joy was driving down to Southwest Harbor to pick up her only grandson, Sasha, and bringing him home to spend a few days with her.

Since she had not graduated from high school, at age 51 she decided to return to school and get her diploma which she accomplished and graduated from Merrymeeting Adult Education school in Topsham in June 1991.

Corrine was predeceased by her parents and a brother, John E. Gowell. She is survived by her son, Eugene G. Gowell and wife Linda of Bryant Pond, ME; two sisters, Barbara Baumgartner of Lexington Park, MD, Norma H. Floyd and husband Rodney of Vancouver, WA; two brothers, Perley E., Jr. and wife Nancy and Richard G. Gowell, all of Brunswick, ME; a grandson, Sasha T. Gowell and wife Kate and great granddaughter, Kaitlyn of Patten, ME, and eleven nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at a date to be announced.
