BRUNSWICK — A Bowdoin College women’s hockey assistant coach was arrested Sunday night and charged with operating under the influence after allegedly crashing her SUV into a campus building.
Holly Lorms, 24, of Potter Street, was not hurt when her 1999 Lexus ran over a light pole and crashed into the Stanley F. Druckenmiller Hall, a campus science building, at around 10:41 p.m, Deputy Police Chief Marc Hagan said Monday.
Lorms was driving north on Harpswell Road when the crash occurred, Hagan said.
The deputy chief said additional details were not immediately available and the incident was still under investigation.
Lorms was hired by the college last August, according to the Bowdoin website. She previously attended Boston University, where she captained the hockey team that finished as runner-up in the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament.
Bowdoin spokesman Doug Cook said he did not know the extent of the property damage. He said he could not discuss Lorms’ arrest or whether the college will take any disciplinary action against her because “it’s a confidential personnel matter.”
Lorms was released on $500 unsecured bail early Monday morning and has an April 2 court date at West Bath District Court.
