Police arrested a Brunswick man Thursday night Richmond police had been seeking in connection with an early-morning convenience store burglary Jan. 10 in Richmond.

Brunswick police arrested Shawn Mills, 28, of 49 MacMillan Drive, Brunswick, on a Richmond warrant alleging burglary and theft Thursday at about 8:30 p.m.

Police were called to Pat’s Store at 160 Brunswick Road at 5:41 a.m. Jan. 10 for a burglary discovered by an employee arriving to work. Thanks to a lead from Topsham, they charged Ernest “Mike” Patti, 30, of 75 Farley Road in Brunswick, with burglary and receiving stolen property.

At the time, Richmond Police Chief Scott MacMaster said police believed Patti provided transportation to and from the store, and continued searching for a second suspect. Richmond police Sgt. Adam Garland said police believe Mills is the person who broke into the store and took items. Mills was taken to Cumberland County Jail where Garland said bail was set at $1,500 cash.

After the burglary, Mac- Master said the store reported three packs of Twisted Tea and 23 cartons of cigarettes had been swiped, valued at $1,471.

In the same timeframe as the store burglary, MacMaster said police received a report that a vehicle parked across the street from Pat’s Store had been broken into. Police believed items taken from the car may have been used to carry store items out. This included a couple of sweatshirts and maybe a bag that held a helmet. The helmet was reported as stolen as well.

According to MacMaster, police only recovered approximately one carton of cigarettes and believe several cartons were sold in the Brunswick area.

Mills was given a West Bath District Court date of May 6. Patti was assigned an April 9 West Bath District Court date.
