BATH — Three Mid-Coast residents were arrested Tuesday evening on charges of trafficking in heroin, a Class B crime.

Derek Elliot, 21, of Brunswick, and Joshua Neisius, 25, of West Bath, were both arrested in West Bath, while Dwan Russell, 25, of Topsham, was arrested in Bath, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Agents from the MDEA, Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s deputies, and Bath and Topsham police officers made the arrests. The investigation began about a month ago, according to an MDEA press release.

Agents seized about six grams of heroin from Neisius, while Russell allegedly possessed about two grams, and Elliot had about one gram. A gram can be converted into up to 40-50 retail bags of heroin, which sell for $25 to $30 each, according to MDEA.
