PORTLAND — Eileen Mary Goepner, 71, of Portland, died Friday at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. 

She was born Dec. 18, 1941 in Everett, Mass., to John and Kathleen Foresteire. She graduated from Everett High School and Boston State College. 

Goepner was a teacher in Westbrook schools for 28 years, where she earned the love and respect of many students. She had a great enthusiasm and love of life, and her greatest passion was her profound relationships with her friends and family.

She is predeceased by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Foresteire. 

Survivors include her loving husband of 32 years, Rudy Goepner; a son, Patrick O’Malley, and his wife, Erin; a stepson, Alan Goepner, and his wife, Sharon; her brothers, John Foresteire, and his wife, Angela, Richard Foresteire, Fredrick Foresteire, and his wife, Dorothy; her nieces and nephews, Theresa Robinson, and her husband, Jason, Gretchen Rich, and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Callie and Darby, Richard Foresteire Jr., and his wife, Kara, and their children Grace and James, Fred Foresteire and Denise Foresteire; and her goddaughter, Lindsey Poitras. Goepner is also survived by numerous extended relatives.

A funeral was held Monday at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services in Portland. Interment will be private.
