BATH – Agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a 35-year-old man after raiding his apartment and finding what they said was evidence he was manufacturing methamphetamines.
Mark Corson of Dummer Street was charged with aggravated trafficking in methampetamines and was taken to Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.
Bail was set at $2,000 and Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said Corson will make a court appearance Friday if he does not post bail.
McCausland said the charge was upgraded to aggravated trafficking because Corson’s apartment is near Newell Elementary School off High Street.
The raid was conducted by a special team from MDEA, McCausland said. Team members wore protective gear due to the potentially explosive nature of the process for making methamphetamines.
He also said nearby apartments were evacuated during the search.
