Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Mark Rogers will start the major league baseball season on the 15-day disabled list.

Rogers, a hard-throwing right hander from Orrs Island, was placed on the DL because of right shoulder instability. He will be eligible to pitch for the Brewers Apr. 9.

The move was made after Rogers, who was Milwaukee’s first-round selection in 2002 amateur draft, went 0-1 and compiled a 7.00 earned run average while pitching nine innings during four starts in spring training.
