FREEPORT — The two suspects allegedly involved in a robbery at the Yarmouth Rite Aide Pharmacy on Route 1 remained hospitalized Wednesday night after their car crashed on the Mallett Drive exit in Freeport.

Steve McCausland, a spokesman for the Maine State Police, said 21-year-old Dylan Libby and 18-year-old Madeline Damon, are believed to have robbed the pharmacy and fled with prescription drugs late Wednesday afternoon.

McCausland said Libby and Damon are originally from North Yarmouth, but recently moved to Bangor.

Libby, who was driving the getaway vehicle, led Yarmouth police on a chase in the northbound lane of Interstate 295. McCausland said Libby lost control of his car and crashed when he attempted to exit the Interstate. He fled on foot while Damon remained at the crash scene.

Libby was apprehended and both suspects were taken to a local hospital for treatment of “multiple injuries.” The extent of their injuries is not known.

McCausland said he expected Yarmouth police to charge the pair at a later date.
