PITTSTON — A local man remained hospitalized with serious injuries Monday after crashing his dirt bike on Troop Road over the weekend.

Michael Lund, 22, of Pittston, was in critical condition Monday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, according to Capt. Daniel Davies of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

Lund was taken to the hospital by a LifeFlight helicopter Sunday night after crashing his dirt bike just before 7 p.m.

Davies said Lund, who was not wearing a helmet, was seen riding his motorcycle on Troop Road. Friends went searching for him when he did not return and found him just off the road.

Kennebec County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan McNally said Sunday that the bike was not damaged in the crash. Accident investigators still are trying to learn what caused Lund to fall from his motorcycle, Davies said.

Lund was riding alone at the time of the accident.
