PORTLAND — Forest Avenue reopened Thursday afternoon after a stretch of the thoroughfare was closed for four hours after a car toppled a utility pole.

Portland police said the crash occurred on the inbound section of the busy commuter route about 9 a.m., near the Cumberland Farms store between Morrill’s Corner and the intersection with Read Street. The road was reopened about 1:30 p.m., according to Portland Police Sgt. Robert Martin.

The pole held communications wires, but no electrical lines, they said, and no one was injured in the accident.
