April 12-21: Schoolhouse Arts Center is celebrating their 25th anniversary by presenting Hold On, Molly!, a rousing musical comedy based on the true story of Molly Finney of Freeport, Maine. She was kidnapped by local Indians in 1756. The story of this romantic rescue adventure comes to life with lively dance numbers, lots of singing from a very talented cast, and plenty of action. “Molly” will run Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 and a Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. from April 12 through April 21. Tickets will be $16 for adults and $14 for seniors and students. The Schoolhouse Arts Center is located at 16 Richville Road (Route 114) in Standish, just north of the intersection of Route 114 and Route 35. Saturday, April 13: The Knights of Columbus, Windham Council will be hosting a Baked Haddock Dinner from 5-6 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Route 302 North Windham. Adults are $8, $4 for children 12 and under. The proceeds benefit the charitable works of the council. The meal includes baked haddock, potato, vegetable, homemade coleslaw, homemade desserts, coffee, tea, fruit punch.

April 13: Windham Christian Academy offers a Zumbathon from 12-2 p.m. at Windham Christian Academy. The cost to attend will be $10 and can be paid at the door. You can come for as long as you’d like or stay for 30 minutes, or dance the entire two hours, it’s up to you. Anyone age 13 and up are welcome.

April 13: Naples/Casco Food Pantry Fundraiser, 7:30-11:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 155, 26 Casco Road, Naples. Sons of the American Legion presents “The Wrong Road Band” at its yearly fundraiser

for the Naples/Casco Food Pantry. Finger-food buffet, raffles, cash bar. $6 cover charge.

Sunday, April 14: Maine Taxpayers United will host the 2nd Annual Tax Day Rally at 2 p.m. at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Chestnut Street, in Lewiston. Featured speakers will include Gov. Paul Lepage, former State Treasurer, Bruce Poliquin, and former State Representative, Scott Lansley.

April 14-15: Auditions for the “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” musical will be held at Schoolhouse Arts Center on Monday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. Please bring sheet music and come prepared to sing a Broadway-type song. An accompanist will be provided. Performances will be from June 21 through July 7. April 15-19: CenterStage Performing Arts in Raymond is hosting an April vacation musical theatre camp with Dr. Pam and Dr. Bob Chambora. The camp runs 9 a.m.-noon April 15-19 and is for ages 8-18. The purpose of the participatory camp is to introduce basic techniques to develop a more fully developed approach to performance of musical theatre. Following a discussion and exploration about the TRIAD (Acting & Singing & Dancing), a series of games and exercises will explore the concept that acting, singing, and dancing can be used to flesh out the story, character, action, etc. The camp will culminate in a Showcase of Songs and Scenes from contemporary musical theatre on Friday, April 19, at 11 a.m. For more information and to register, go to www.centerstagepa.com or call 807-7405.

Tuesday, April 16: Saint Joseph’s College will host a screening of “Chasing Ice,” the 2013 Oscar-nominated documentary on National Geographic photographer James Balog. Directed by Jeff Orlowski, “Chasing Ice” follows Balog as he crosses the Arctic to deploy time-lapse cameras to document the record change of glaciers. The screening is free and open to the public and will be shown at 6:30 p.m., in the Viola George Auditorium, Harold Alfond Hall, at Saint Joseph’s Standish campus.

Thursday, April 18: The monthly meeting of the New Gloucester Historical Society will be held at 7 p.m. at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse, 389 Intervale Road (Route 231), next to the Town Hall. The speaker will be Roland Jordan, of the Maine Old Cemetery Association, who will talk about the association’s many projects highlighting the work done with Revolutionary War veterans, in honor of Patriots’ Day. Free. The public is invited.

Saturday, April 20: Sound of Music Sing-a-long at Faith Lutheran Church, 988 Roosevelt Trail, North Windham. Come dressed as your favorite character from the movie for a costume contest with prizes. Refreshments will be available as well as participation bags given out to all who come. Doors open at 6 p.m. Limited seating. Tickets are $8 each or two for $15. April 20: Dr. Michael Coffman will explain the development, implementation and impact of United Nations Agenda 21, Sustainable Development, Smart Growth, Open Space at 6 p.m. at the Lake Region High School.
