PORTLAND — Emergency workers are on the scene of a crash in which a tractor-trailer truck hit the wires holding a traffic light on Brighton Avenue, pulling them down and snapping the poles they were attached to.

The incident happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. near 1064 Brighton Ave.

Police closed a section of Brighton between the Maine Turnpike and Rand Road for about an hour while crews worked to repair the damage.
