FALMOUTH — The Legends Tour, the official Senior Tour of the LPGA, will return to the Falmouth Country Club for the second straight year.

The Harris Golf Charity Classic will be played Sept. 12-15. A field of 40 golfers will play 36 holes over two days for a total purse of $200,000.

Tournament week will also include two, one-day pro-am tournaments.

Last year’s inaugural tournament was held in late June and won by Sherri Turner. The Legends Tour is comprised of some of the best women golfers of all-time. It has over 100 members, including 12 LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame members.

Jane Blalock, a Portsmouth, N.H. native and a 27-time winner on the LPGA Tour, is the CEO of the Legends Tour.

“The LPGA Legends are thrilled to partner with Harris Golf to once again bring world class LPGA players to the state of Maine,” said Blalock in a statement.

“I’ve already heard from several of our players who are excited to return to the greater Portland area and the challenging Falmouth Country Club course,” she said.

Harris Golf said the tournament will benefit local charities. It expects to name the charities soon.
