WATERBORO – Jake Desrochers scored three goals, and Stephen Chaves added two goals and an assist Wednesday to lead Massabesic to a 6-3 victory against Portland in an SMAA schoolboy lacrosse game.

Larry Fournier had 11 saves for the Mustangs (2-1).

Connor Bruce paced Portland (0-2) with two goals.

BRUNSWICK 16, CONY 5: Bailey Caparatto scored five goals and assisted on two others, and Cameron Glover finished with four goals and three assists as the Dragons (2-0) downed the Rams (0-2) at Brunswick.

Alex Croatti added two goals and two assists for Brunswick.

KENNEBUNK 14, BIDDEFORD 0: Tyler Elkington had three goals and four assists as the Rams (2-0) shut out Biddeford at Kennebunk,

Jake Boothbay scored five goals.

Bryce Fraser, Pat Murphy and Pat Rimmer added two goals each.

SOUTH PORTLAND 12, GORHAM 7: Duncan Preston had four goals and three assists as the Red Riots (2-0) downed Gorham (0-2) at South Portland.

Jack Fiorini added three goals and Alec Neal scored twice for the Red Riots.

Timo Hellier held the Rams at bay with 10 saves.

Anthony Coppolla paced Gorham with three goals and an assist.

DEERING 7, MARSHWOOD 4: Andrew Hale scored twice for the Hawks (1-2) against the Rams (1-1) at South Berwick.

BASEBALL

LEAVITT 8, MEDOMAK VALLEY 4: Mitchell Davis struck out six, walked five and surrendered six hits over five innings as Leavitt won an opener at Waldoboro.

Tyler Hutchinson drove in two runs and scored twice for Leavitt.

SOFTBALL

MARANACOOK 15, MORSE 3: Maranacook took advantage of 12 errors to secure a five-inning victory in an opener at Readfield.

Morse committed 10 errors in the first two innings. Maranacook scored six runs in the first and five in the second.

Ashley Belanger of Maranacook struck out seven, walked none and allowed four hits.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 6, LEAVITT 3: Hannah Marks drove in two runs with a single in the fourth inning as Medomak Valley won an opener at Waldoboro.

The Panthers went ahead for good with a four-run fourth. Lauren Guptil and Bridget Miller also drove in runs in the rally.

Dani Hunt doubled in a run and Heidi Obuchon brought home another with a sacrifice fly.

BREWER 29, MT. ARARAT 2: Emily Gilmore homered twice and drove in six runs as the Witches won a five-inning opener at Topsham.
