SANFORD – Katelyn Tucker pitched a nine-hit shutout Friday as Windham opened the SMAA softball season with a 5-0 victory against Sanford.

Tucker struck out six and walked none, and had an RBI bunt single during a three-run third inning.

Haley Plante added an RBI triple.

Sam Fecteau and Caitlin Pierce each had two hits for the Spartans.

MARSHWOOD 16, DEERING 2: Nicole Harvey hit a two-run double and threw a six-hitter with 14 strikeouts and four walks to help the Hawks win an opener at Portland.

Michelle Bosse had three hits and scored twice for Marshwood, which took advantage of nine Deering errors.

Isabelle Doughty had three hits for the Rams.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 2, POLAND 1: Carla Tripp tagged up and scored on a popup in the first inning, and courtesy runner Julia Quinn scored on an outfield error in the third as the Raiders won an opener at Poland.

Sarah Harriman of Fryeburg struck out nine, walked one and gave up six hits. Kolby Woods of Poland walked four, struck out six and allowed five hits.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3, SACOPEE VALLEY 2: Sandy Richards pushed home the eventual winning run with a bunt during a two-run eighth inning as the Patriots won an opener at South Hiram.

Anna Knapp belted a solo home run in the fifth, and Maria Valente had a pair of hits for Gray-New Gloucester.

Madison Schaubhut had an RBI double for Sacopee.

MESSALONSKEE 9, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 6: The Broncos (1-1) rallied for three runs in the seventh inning and had the tying run at the plate, but pitcher Jordan Roy induced a game-ending popup as the Eagles (2-0) held on at Hampden.

Kayla Clewey doubled twice, Abby Lord singled twice and Nicole MacDougall doubled for Hampden.

Nikki Collie singled twice for Messalonskee.

CONY 14, ERSKINE ACADEMY 0: Arika Brochu pitched a one-hitter to lead the Rams (2-0) over Erskine Academy (0-2) at South China.

Brochu struck out six and walked two.

The Rams broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the fourth inning.

Veronica Wood led Cony’s 13-hit offense with four singles, and Alyssah Dennett and Molly Russell added two hits apiece.

MADISON 20, OAK HILL 2: Aly LeBlanc had two singles and two RBI as the Bulldogs cruised in a five-inning opener at Wales.

Emily McKenney had six strikeouts and no walks for Madison. Savanna Kandiko hit a triple and Hillary McKenney added a double for the Bulldogs.

LACROSSE

MT. ARARAT 15, OXFORD HILLS 6: Rebecca Schumann had seven goals and two assists as Mt. Ararat won an opener at South Paris.

Sierra Gilley added four goals and Katie Labbay scored three for the Eagles.

Kristen Gamache scored five goals for Oxford Hills.
